Social Work Award Reform Update (IRC Conciliation)

The HSU Social Work bargaining team have conducted Industrial Relations Commission led conciliation throughout January and February on the HSU’s Social Work classification structure.
Positive progress has occurred and the HSU Social Work bargaining team can report that finalisation of a new classification structure with improved career progression and recognition is close. The HSU and Ministry of Health are now undertaking re-drafting actions to reflect the outcome of conciliation.
HSU Social Work members will be provided with an updated draft shortly and you will be asked to endorse the changes. The precise date is unclear, but it is expected to be during March, and members will receive further information as soon as possible.
Further conciliation is scheduled for February 27, 2026. The purpose of this conciliation is to schedule hearing dates for the HSU Allied Health wage increases and members should expect further updates after this date.
