NNSWLHD Christmas Closedown: Your Rights, No Confusion
Friday 28 November, 2025
The HSU has called for NNSWLHD to amend their memorandum to align with NSW Government Policy. Staff are in fact not “required” to take any leave over the Christmas period. NNSWLHD has refused the HSU’s request to provide accurate information about your rights as they believe it would cause “confusion”, given the inaccurate memorandum that has already been distributed.
If your department is part of NNSWLHD’s Christmas Closedown strategy and you do not wish to take leave, you should undertake the following steps:
- Inform your manager that you will not be taking leave over Christmas.
- Inform your manager that you will be reporting for work as per normal hours.
- Inform your manager that you will be undertaking your normal duties.
For any questions or to find out more, please reach out to your HSU Organiser Michael Kearns via email michael.kearns@hsu.asn.au or your Member Services Division on 1300 478 679.
