Northern Sydney LHD (NSLHD) Proposed Care in the Community Directorate

Northern Sydney LHD (NSLHD) Proposed Care in the Community Directorate

Tuesday 7 April, 2026

Dear member,

NSLHD has notified the HSU of its plan to establish a new Care in the Community Directorate. This is your opportunity to have a say on how this affects you.
  • The establishment of this new directorate would result in significant impacts to a number of existing services within the District including the Primary and Community Health (PaCH) Directorate, Hospital in the Home (HITH) and Virtual Care Service (VCS), and the three Geriatric Outreach services.
  • The District suggests that this change would assist in meeting its objective to enable the community to receive well-coordinated care closer to home, reduce community services operating in isolation, and support community access to required services more efficiently.
  • As expected with a change of such significant scale, the proposal would result in the deletion of a number of positions, with flow-on impacts to reporting lines and position descriptions. Among HSU members, job cuts are always a concern, regardless of the benefits the District claims would occur.
