PAICT Sub Branch Calls for Winter Strategy

In the recent PAICT Sub Branch meeting, along with showing solidarity and support for their fellow members in Cardiac Sonography, the Branch also discussed the fast approaching cold season and the District’s lack of communication around a ‘winter strategy’. The Branch have observed consistently high levels of surge beds open within the district for many months now, and yet the Branch have not seen any changes to these surge bed trends following ward changes at Gosford Hospital earlier this year, implemented to address discharge efficiency.

  • The Sub Branch has written to the LHD.
  • Sub Branch is seeking information about any strategies the district has planned to manage staffing and increased presentations during the winter season.
  • Sub Branch would like to understand and/or contribute towards both the broader strategy for patient flow in our hospitals, as well as targeted strategies addressing Allied Health specific challenges.
