Speech Pathology Service Restructure at Children’s Hospital Westmead

A restructure within Speech Pathology Services is being proposed by The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network. This is your opportunity to have a say on how this affects you.
- The proposal would see the service at CHW expanded to include a weekend service, meaning the service would change to a seven-day service.
- The network claims that a pilot for the seven-day service demonstrated positive impacts on patient outcomes, caregiver and healthcare professional experience.
- The proposal would require the existing staff to transition to a shift-worker model which attracts penalty rates on weekends.
- The HSU is however concerned in relation to this proposal as the network may not have the right to transition staff into a shift-worker model without their express consent.
