Workload demands at Sir Leslie Morshead

Thursday 25 June, 2026

Complete the HSU workload survey here.

HSU members from Sir Leslie Morshead recently requested a meeting with management, to discuss excessive workloads and allocations across the facility. A successful meeting was held on Wednesday 17 June 2026 where members attended to outline their concerns.

Management acknowledged the complexities of providing quality care in the context of recent changes and respecting resident dignity of choice. They further supported members position of adhering to manual handling practices when providing care.

Management assured members they do read and act upon progress notes and feedback forms submitted by staff.  An appropriate approach to escalating concerns of workload, changes to resident needs and safe working practices was agreed on and members are encouraged to:

  • Raise the issue directly with the Registered Nurse on duty
  • Escalate your concerns to the Care Manager and/or Facility Manager
  • Complete a Riskman entry – the Facility Manager is arranging password access
  • Document in progress notes e.g.” resident is resistant to manual handling practice” “personal care for this resident is now taking XX minutes longer”

Now is the time to let them know how heavy the workload has become!

Members are also encouraged to complete this short confidential survey.
