10-hour break between shifts at Arcare Aranda

HSU members at Arcare Aranda have raised concerns about not receiving the full 10-hour break between rostered shifts and after working overtime.
Your Enterprise Agreement clearly outlines your entitlement to overtime payments when your employer requires you to start your next shift after overtime without receiving the full ten-hour break. The minimum break after overtime can only be reduced with your agreement.
Have you worked a double shift (overtime) and then worked morning shift the next day?
- Ensure you haven’t signed a waiver reducing your ten-hour break down to eight hours.
- Check your payslips to make sure you were paid overtime rates for the whole of the morning shift
- Email payroll requesting an audit of your time sheets to identify the backpay owed including the applicable superannuation contributions
Does your roster have you working regular shifts without a ten-hour break? You are also entitlement to a ten-hour break between your regularly rostered shifts. This mandatory rest break can only be reduced with your agreement. Where you haven’t made an agreement, you may be being unperpaid. Check your payslips, published rosters and email payroll regarding your entitlements.
