Opal Rutherford Park: ‘Excessive’ Sick Leave Meetings

Dear member,
Several HSU members from Opal Rutherford Park have reported being directed to attend individual meetings with management, in relation to taking excessive personal leave.
Personal leave is an accrued entitlement and workplace right. Workers should be able to take personal leave if they are unfit for work, without fear of being directed to meet with management.
As an HSU member, what should you do if directed to attend a meeting?
- Do not attend a meeting on your own
- Contact your HSU Delegate or your Member Services Division as soon as possible
- If you need more time to prepare, request to reschedule the meeting
