Special Members Briefing on new Aged Care Award rates this Wednesday!

Are you getting a pay increase from July? Attend an HSU members’ briefing this Wednesday to discuss the new Aged Care Award rates!

The Fair Work Commission has concluded its Annual Wage Review for 2026 and announced a 4.75% increase to all Award pay rates, effective from 1 July 2026.

This increase comes after union members called for a fair pay rise, to make sure your wages keep pace with the rising cost of living.

For qualified direct care workers, this means the minimum hourly rate will increase to $36.23.

For most aged care cleaners, food services assistants, and laundry workers, this means the minimum hourly will increase to $29.98.

Are you covered by an enterprise agreement? The new minimum pay rates apply to you too! The Aged Care Award pay rates are a safety net for aged care workers, so even if you’ve got an EA at your workplace, you can’t be paid less than the Award rate.

All HSU members are invited to a special briefing on the new Award rates, and how they will affect you and your workplace.
