Are you getting a pay increase from July? Details on new aged care pay rates!
Thursday 11 June 2026
Earlier this month the Fair Work Commission announced a 4.75% increase to all Award pay rates, effective from 1 July 2026.
This increase comes after union members called for a fair pay rise, that addresses the increasing cost of living and skyrocketing housing prices.
For qualified direct care workers, this means the minimum hourly rate will increase to $36.23.
For most aged care cleaners, food services assistants, and laundry workers, this means the minimum hourly will increase to $29.98.
The above increases will be payable to you from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026.
For workers covered by enterprise agreements, these minimum rates apply to you too! The Award pay rates apply as a safety net to all aged care workers, even if you’ve got an EA at your workplace (including one that’s currently expired).
All HSU members are invited to special info session about this pay increase and what it means for you, on 1 July 2026 at 10am and 6pm. Details to follow shortly.
Keep an eye on your payslip from 1 July 2026.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your local HSU delegate or to the HSU office for assistance.
