AI in Healthcare – Opportunities, Risks and Priorities
Tuesday 3 February, 2026
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping work, and health is no exception. AI refers to computer systems designed to perform tasks that normally rely on human judgement, such as interpreting information, identifying patterns, or predicting outcomes. In healthcare, AI can include tools that analyse medical images, schedule appointments and staff rosters, support decision-making, or chatbots that answer patient and administrative questions.
HSU members’ insights on how AI could change the Australian health workforce are crucial as its use becomes more widespread. Your responses will help form a collective position to advocate for the protection of jobs in health, as well as proper consultation and training of the workforce through any implementation of technology.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey below. Your responses will help ensure workers have a strong voice in how AI is used in their roles and how it can genuinely improve day to day work, rather than undermine it.
