BlueCare Queensland – Major Workplace Change
Tuesday 12 May, 2026
BlueCare Queensland have notified the HSU of a consultation period for a major workplace change affecting Residential Operational Workforces across multiple sites.
Blue Care are proposing a new residential operating model:
“Shifting our residential services into three portfolio groups based on property design, HELF offerings and resident experience needs. This means moving away from geographic regions and grouping similar facilities together to create clearer service offerings and a better resident experience”.
Key elements of the change include:
- Creation of new ‘HELF Lead’ role
- Deletion of 11.86 FTE Lifestyle Team Leader roles
- Major changes to clinical and care governance
- Deletion of 51 FTE Care Manager and Care Coordinator roles
- Major changes to Facilities and Maintenance
- Deletion of 15 FTE Maintenance Supervisor and/or Team Leader roles
- Reduction of Maintenance Officer positions from 59 to 44
Your employer has started consultation and has requested feedback by close of business 20 May 2026.
If you are affected by this change it is important you seek advice and representation. Please contact sarah.mclaren@hsu.asn.au.
