How bargaining achieves better conditions at SNP
Wednesday 24 June, 2026
Your work at SNP matters! Unionism is how we win better entitlements, things like higher wages, better shift penalties, improved rosters, extra leave, training opportunities, and stronger job security.
With CWA #4 due to expire in December, HSU members have an opportunity to fight for better pay, better conditions, better careers and better leave through coming together and bargaining.
Your Right to Good Faith Bargaining – The Rules That Protect You
The Fair Work Commission (FWC) requires all parties (employer and union/employee reps) to bargain for a new enterprise agreement in good faith. In simple terms, this means:
- Attend meetings and take part properly
- Share relevant information (no secrecy)
- Respond to ideas in a reasonable time
- Seriously consider proposals and explain why or why not
- Avoid unfair tricks that undermine the union or collective bargaining
- Respect each other’s representatives
Good faith is about fair process. It doesn’t force anyone to agree, but it stops bad behaviour. If rules are broken, the FWC can step in with orders.
How You Can Help:
- Contact your delegate or Organiser to be a bargaining representative for your colleagues
- Attend union information sessions and meetings
- Share your ideas on what matters most (pay, rosters, safety, training)
- Talk to your colleagues and encourage them to join
- Stay informed through HSU updates
Union strength through engaged members ensures SNP remains a good employer while delivering the fair rewards you deserve.
