Dear member,
You play a vital role every day in delivering quality pathology services at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP).
But here’s the simple truth: without strong union involvement, employers like SNP would only offer the bare minimum required by law, the National Employment Standards (NES).
These are the basic entitlements that apply to everyone, such as:
- Maximum weekly hours (38 for full-time)
- Annual, personal/sick and parental leave
- Public holidays
- Notice of termination and redundancy pay
With CWA #4 due to expire in December, HSU members have an opportunity to fight for better pay, better conditions, better careers and better leave through coming together and bargaining.
The collective power of HSU members is what lifts standards above the minimum.
Why Collective Power Works
When we stand together:
- We have real strength at the bargaining table, led by your HSU delegates
- Employers must listen and negotiate properly
- We achieve fairer pay and conditions that recognise the important work you and your colleagues do.
The more members involved, the louder our voices when calling for real change. History proves it, strong union membership delivers strong agreements: better results are negotiated for pathology workers in wages, hours, and protections.
SNP Benefits
The current SNP benefits are a good start, but more can be achieved when members engage in the bargaining process. Would you like to see:
- Broader application for the Reproductive leave?
- More Sick leave days?
- Fairer renumeration for all smaller duties that have been absorbed over the years?
- Additional staff to ensure your safety?
- Strengthened Consultation Provisions - changes to be discussed not just decisions made?
With effective bargaining and collective strength, we can win improvements that actually matter to you!
