Something dodgy at SNP? Surely not!
Friday 6 February, 2026
HSU members have reported that phlebotomists at Sullivan Nicolaides are being instructed by management to lie to patients. An email has reportedly been sent instructing phlebotomists to tell patients that 'your doctor has requested an active B12 shot', even when this has not occurred. Unsurprisingly, this means patients are billed $50 upfront.
You are under no obligation to follow this instruction. It is outrageous that workers are being told to do this. You cannot get in trouble for refusing.
It’s understood that the doctors you work with every day have not been informed about this. If you have been instructed as above, you are encouraged to let your doctor know.
Please share this with your colleagues, including those that are yet to join the union. The more phlebotomists that refuse, the better it will be. They should also join the HSU for support and the upcoming Enterprise Agreement campaign. We are stronger united. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
