ISLHD Shellharbour Hospital Temporary Change to the Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit

Dear member,
Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD (ISLHD) has notified the HSU of proposed temporary changes to the Shellharbour Hospital Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit (AMHIPU) and has invited HSU feedback.
The proposal allegedly comes as a result of the District’s Mental Health Service looking at options to improve service delivery across all sites.
The proposal would see new admission to the AMHIPU temporarily paused until 27 January 2026. Staff affected by the temporary suspension will be worked with by management regarding redeployment preferences until the unit reopens for admissions.
