Proposed Reporting Line Change for Patient Liaison Officers by NNSWLHD

Proposed Reporting Line Change for Patient Liaison Officers by NNSWLHD

Tuesday 25 November, 2025

The HSU has been alerted by members, of NNSLWHDs proposed change to reporting lines for Patient Liaison Officers (PLOs).  As a result of the concerns, HSU members called upon management to provide reasons for the proposed change and organisational documents to allow for any potentially impacted member’s feedback. NNSWLHD has provided the sought documents, and its proposal is outlined below.

NNSWLHD proposes that:
  • PLOs reporting to Senior Revenue Officers will improve staff/manager engagement, whereby the line manager will have a greater understanding of day-to-day issues encountered in revenue improvement roles, providing for greater support and guidance.
  • The proposed new reporting line will better facilitate the coordinated delivery of education and change management activities across the district.
  • A centralised structure will improve consistency of practice.

The role, location, hours and grade of the PLO positions will remain unchanged.

The current organisational structure can be viewed by clicking here, and the proposed structure can be viewed by clicking here.

If you have concerns on the proposed changes, please contact your Sub-Branch Committee or email HSU Organiser, Michael Kearns michael.kearns@hsu.asn.au
