Temporary Change to Sub-Acute Mental Health Unit at Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital (SMH)
Dear member,
Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD (ISLHD) has proposed a temporary change to the vacant Sub-Acute Mental Health Unit at SMH. This is your opportunity to have a say on how this affects you.
- The proposed changes relate to patient flow and bed capacity arrangement and are in response to what ISLHD states are significant and ongoing service pressures.
- The proposal would cease use of the 24/7 Acute General Unit and revert the space to a Transit Lounge as it was immediately prior to the change.
- Instead, SAGU B would have an initial opening for eight beds staffed via transferring nurses currently working in the Acute General Unit / Transit Unit, with this capacity eventually increasing to 10.
