Unsafe Workloads at RSL Remembrance Village

Unsafe Workloads at RSL Remembrance Village

Thursday 12 March, 2026

HSU members at RSL Lifecare Remembrance Village have raised serious concerns about ongoing excessive workloads and unsafe staffing levels.

Excessive workloads are a recognised workplace hazard and can place workers and residents at risk. Employers have a legal obligation under Work Health and Safety laws to ensure risks are properly managed.

Members are encouraged to report workload and safety concerns:
  • To the Registered Nurse on duty
  • Via RiskMan as a hazard impacting worker and resident safety
  • Or WHS Committee members so the matter can be raised at WHS meetings.
Reporting unsafe workloads is important. Documenting these risks helps ensure they are acknowledged and addressed.

Safe staffing levels are essential to quality care. No worker should be placed in a situation where excessive workloads compromise resident safety or their own wellbeing.

For support or further information, please contact your Workplace Delegates Roslyn Wales and Laxmi Kunwar or your HSU organiser Min Beliaiev at michelle.beliaiev@hsu.asn.au.

Encourage colleagues who are not union members to join. We are always stronger when we stand together.
