Workplace Change at Uniting RCL and Your Rights

HSU members at RCL have received communication from Uniting dated 4 February 2026 about employment arrangements during the Lift 2 replacement works. However, members have reported that this communication is unclear.
 
Uniting has been contacted and advised it will conduct formal consultation with staff under the Uniting Aged Care Enterprise Agreement (EA) regarding the planned Lift 2 replacement works and related staffing changes at Ronald Coleman Lodge. Please be advised that:
  • Uniting have confirmed formal consultation will occur. They have advised they will organise a group consultation meeting soon and will send the date and time to staff.
  • Under clause 47.2, the employer must notify affected employees and their representatives, including HSU, and provide reasonable written notice before meetings about proposed changes.
  • Under clause 47.3, employees may appoint a representative for consultation, and the employer must recognise that representative. Clause 48.1 also confirms the employer recognises employees’ right to access meaningful union representation.
Do not attend any consultation meeting alone if you want representation. Make sure to pass along any meeting invites, letters, or requests to express interest in moving sites.
