Carrington – Have You Been Paid for Mandatory e-learning?

Carrington – Have You Been Paid for Mandatory e-learning?

Wednesday 4 March, 2026

Some HSU members have recently raised concerns about not getting paid for their mandatory e-learning.

The Carrington Enterprise Agreement 2025 clearly states the following:

Clause 37.1 Workforce Training
  • Carrington undertakes to provide rostered time for compulsory training to all staff during their rostered shifts and as such staff will be paid in accordance with the arrangements that are applicable for that shift.  If they are unable to attend this training, then they can attend alternate compulsory training outside of their rostered shift and be paid at their ordinary rate of pay for the time they attended the training.
  • Where practicable, training shall be provided to employees during their normal rostered hours of work.
  • If the employee elects (and management agree) to attend training outside of their normal rostered hours, then they can attend alternate compulsory training outside of their normal rostered hours and be paid at their ordinary rate of pay for the time they attended the training.

To be paid, it’s important you seek approval from your manager prior to completing e-learning at home.  If you’re completing e-learning during your shift, then time needs to be set aside to complete it so you can concentrate on the learning and not on your other duties.
