Estia: Mandatory Training & Your Rights

Estia: Mandatory Training & Your Rights

Monday 16 February, 2026

Members have raised concerns about payment for mandatory training. Your Union has sought clarification with Estia Health.

Under clause 16 of your Enterprise Agreement (EA):
  • Mandatory training must be provided within rostered hours
  • You must be paid for all mandatory training
  • If completed outside ordinary hours with approval, minimum shift provisions apply under clause 16.4

1. Face to face training payment
If you attend face-to-face mandatory training on your day off, you should be paid the minimum engagement under clause 16.4(b) of your EA: 4 hours for full time or part time, 2 hours for casual.

If you attended any face-to-face training in the past and were not paid correctly, email your RACM requesting correction. You may CC your Union.

2. Online mandatory training
If you cannot complete online training during your shift due to workload, lack of equipment, or no suitable space, notify your RACM before you do the training.

One of the following must occur:

  • You are taken off the floor during your shift to complete the training, or
  • If done outside rostered hours, it must be approved and paid under clause 16.4

Do not complete mandatory training unpaid.

You can use the below template email to your RACM:
