Dear member,
HSU members continue to raise concerns about the introduction and rollout of the Biarri rostering system across Home & Community Care.
The HSU has written to Uniting management reinforcing the issues members have raised with the Biarri system:
- More broken shifts than before
- Greater distances to first and last clients
- More travel between clients throughout the day
- Less continuity of care for clients
- Back-to-back client allocations with no space for a 30-minute meal break
- An unreliable service for clients due to rostering practices
Uniting management have acknowledged that the transition has presented challenges and have confirmed they are working towards addressing your issues. However, this is not happening fast enough! Members continue to work in unfavourable conditions, with unnecessary travel and without the appropriate breaks.
What can you do to influence Uniting to resolve these issues?
- Claim overtime for missed meal breaks.
- Lodge QASAR reports when issues are identified.
- Submit exemption requests for each client you believe should receive special consideration.
- Encourage clients and families to raise concerns and provide feedback to their Care Partner.
The more members speaking up, the LOUDER we are!
