Maitland Hospital Food Services Survey: The results are in!

Maitland Hospital Food Services Survey: The results are in!

Monday 16 February, 2026

Following concerns raised around rosters in the Food Services area, the HSU launched a survey to gauge a depth on how widely and deeply felt this matter is. The survey has now closed and the results are in. Overwhelmingly, members have said they are NOT satisfied with the roster in the department. Below is a breakdown of the outcome:

  • The majority of members have indicated the consecutive seven days are concerning, leading to burnout and fatigue
  • There have also been concerns raised around the payment of overtime – this is being looked into
  • The HSU will now write to HealthShare to ask for discussions to commence around alternative rostering.

These discussions will require the assistance of up to three members from Food Services to represent the department. If you would like to be involved, please email your organiser Matt Ramsay at matthew.ramsay@hsu.asn.au or call the HSU Member Services Division on 1300 478 679.

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
