Mental Health Unit Changes at Manning Hospital
Friday 20 March, 2026
Hunter New England LHD (HNELHD) has proposed work location changes for Health and Security Assistants (HASA’s) at Manning Hospital. This is your opportunity to have a say on how this affects you.
- HNELHD claim that a review was conducted which has determined that the dual role arrangement is not sufficient or sustainable to ensure cleanliness standards of the unit, as HASA’s are frequently required to respond to security issues.
- The outcome of the review is a recommendation that cleaning responsibilities for the Mental Health Unit are transferred to HealthShare (HSNSW).
- With cleaning duties proposed to transfer to HSNSW, the work location of the 5 existing HASA’s would be reassigned in line with the existing HASA rostering process across the broader Manning Hospital.
