RSL LifeCare Austral – Major Workplace Change

RSL LifeCare Austral – Major Workplace Change

Thursday 21 May, 2026

Dear member,

HSU members at RSL LifeCare Austral have raised serious concerns about a recent roster review and a loss of hours. Yesterday, HSU members held an urgent meeting with management to address the following:
  • The lack of consultation with HSU members
  • The serious impact of the loss of hours and measures to mitigate this impact
Why this matters: Procedural Fairness

When an employer makes a major workplace change, your employer must:
  • Consult with you and other staff members.
  • Provide written information about the change and its effects.
  • Discuss the change with staff and consider matters raised.
A move to shorten shifts is a major workplace change and consultation must take place.  Management are encouraging staff who have any concerns about the changes to speak with either Bree or Azeem.  Management have agreed to discuss and seek feedback on the adjustment to duties lists.  They have also committed to a review in three months’ time and assured staff feedback will be considered.

If you have any questions or require advice, contact your Organiser, Josie – josie.peacock@hsu.asn.au or 0419 264 060
