Hunter New England LHD (HNELHD) has notified the HSU of its intention to implement duress pendants into the security office at Calvary Mater Hospital. This is your opportunity to have a say on how this affects you.
Management state these would be available for all security officers to use as an additional safety measure.
Security officers would be required to perform pre-shift pendant checks, sign the pendant out at the start of shift and in at the end of shift, and wear the pendant throughout the whole shift.
Management have received a quote on the devices but will not proceed to any purchase and installation until consultation has occurred with impacted staff.
It is important for union members to lead this discussion.
