Safehaven Relocation at Hunter New England LHD

HNELHD is proposing the relocation of the Safehaven service currently located on Stewart Avenue, Newcastle. This is your opportunity to have a say on how this affects you.
- Currently the location of the service is near a number of entertainment venues (pubs and clubs) which are frequented by the public over the weekend.
- Management claim there have been a number of incidents involving intoxicated members of public accessing the service, with these presentations not being aligned with the purpose of Safehaven, and presenting a safety risk to those working at Safehaven or utilising its services for legitimate reasons.
- It is proposed that the service is relocated to the Calvary Mater Mental Health Service to become integrated with the PECC, ensuring the service is a close distance to emergency services.
