Southern Child Wellbeing Unit Changes at Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN)

Southern Child Wellbeing Unit Changes at Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN)

Wednesday 17 June, 2026

Dear member,

SCHN has notified the HSU of proposed changes to the operational model and the relocation of the Southern Child Wellbeing Unit (CWU). This is your opportunity to have a say on how this affects you.
  • The unit currently operates out of Wollongong and the lease arrangement is being extended until 10 June 2028, but the Network has decided it will not extend the lease beyond that date.
  • Management claim they have considered future operational requirements and propose the CWU transition to an onsite operational model across Randwick and Westmead after the lease extends.
  • Management have advised that they have provided this consultation paper approximately 2 years in advance of the lease expiry which should ensure all employees have time to consider the potential implications and participate in the process.
