St Vincents Public Hospital Wards Person Members Force Consultation

St Vincents Public Hospital Wards Person Members Force Consultation

Dear member,

Union members in the St Vincent’s Public Hospital Wards person department have come together to stand up for consultation rights in the workplace.

Changes have been introduced without any prior consultation with effected members.

The absence of consultation has not only caused confusion to our members but has also undermined the confidence in the process and the intent behind the changes.

HSU request:
  1. Immediate clarification on the process and scope of this implementation sent to secretary@hsu.asn.au
  2. A status quo remains until proper consultation occurs as the matter is placed into dispute
HSU members remain committed to working collaboratively with the organisation however, it is essential members are appropriately represented and consulted prior to the introduction of workplace change.

As a result of HSU member intervention, the St Vincent’s has now been compelled to consult with the HSU and affected members about this significant proposed change, as required under the NSW (NON DECLARED) Affiliated Health Organisations Health Employees agreement 2019

Effective 24 March 2026, communication to all Wards persons has been made that they will no longer be required to sign in or sign out on the register at the commencement and completion of their shift.

Why this matters:

1.      Ensures proper consultation rights are upheld; and
2.      Holds management accountable to the Staff Agreement.

This outcome is a direct result of union strength and vigilance. If you see changes to roles, contracts, or staffing structures in your area, let us know early so we can act quickly.

Together, we will continue to stand up for fair conditions, secure work, and respect in the workplace.

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together.
