Union Win: Upgrade of JHH Carpark Card Readers!

After sustained HSU pressure, the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) has agreed to the upgrade of the John Hunter Hospital carpark card readers! This could not have been possible without the persistence and activism of HSU members – well done to all involved.
  • This upgrade includes the issuing of new car parking access cards.
  • The anticipated commencement date for the upgraded system is end of April 2026.
  • The District has proposed the following interim arrangements until then:
    • Car parking attendants assigned to CP1 and CP3 between 6.00 am and 9.00 am and between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to assist with peak period access management.
    • Adjustment of afternoon shift access time from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm.
  • The operation of the interim measures will be reviewed fortnightly after implementation. 

HNELHD is seeking any feedback or concerns regarding these proposed interim arrangements.
