Wardsperson Roster Changes at John Hunter Hospital (JHH)

Dear member,
 
HSU members at JHH within Hunter New England LHD (HNELHD) have secured a strong, practical win which will make a real difference on the ground.
 
After raising concerns about workload pressure, especially on weekends, members pushed for change, and now it’s been delivered. A trial starting this weekend will introduce additional wardsperson support, with two dedicated wardspersons covering weekends.
 
What this means for HSU members:
  • Reduced workload pressure on radiography staff
  • Better support on weekends, when it’s most needed
  • A clear example of members speaking up and driving change
Importantly, members backed this outcome, recognising it as a positive step forward—even while holding management accountable on consultation delays.
 
This win shows what’s possible when members come together, raise issues early, and stay engaged throughout the process.
