HSU members at St. Basils have won increased rates of pay and significant back pay following a successful classification dispute after it was discovered that the organisation had not correctly passed on the HSU Work Value case increases.
Team Leaders secured higher pay rates and back pay after management agreed their classification was not aligned with the Modern Aged Care Award. Team Leaders will be reclassified to Senior Medication (ACE Level 5 under the Award) This includes Direct Care members doing Carer/TL dual role.
In addition, any Support Service member affected should also have had their rate corrected and back pay paid.
HSU is continuing to consult with St. Basils regarding the proposed new position descriptions. Please continue to review and provide feedback.
In another win, after HSU members raised concerns about Home Care pay, Level 2 and Level 3 employees should have now received communication from management confirming the underpayment and advising that back pay is being processed.
While management have confirmed the correction and that back pay is being processed, we still encourage members to check their payslips carefully.
Congratulations to members on this hard-fought win. While workplace issues can take time to resolve, members have shown strength and resilience over the past 12 months to make sure you receive what you are rightfully entitled to.
