Nursing and Midwifery Restructure at Maitland Hospital
Friday 20 February, 2026
Hunter New England LHD (HNELHD) is proposing a Nursing and Midwifery restructure at Maitland Hospital. This is your opportunity to have a say on how this affects you.
- The District states Maitland and surrounding areas have experienced a period of rapid growth, raising the need for clinical specialisation across the Maitland Hospital.
- Particularly of note is the proposed creation of clearly defined specialty clinical streams across Medicine, Surgery and Surgical Waitlist, Perioperative Services, Critical Care, Women’s and Children’s, Access and Flow, and Outpatients.
- The proposal would see the deletion of the Orthopaedic Coordinator (Health Manager 2) and creation of Clinical Specialist Orthopaedic Physiotherapist (Level 4).
