The closure of the Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass is causing significant challenges for HSU members in the Blue Mountains.
Join your colleagues today by signing a petition to the open Hartley Vale Rd to health workers. This will shorten travel time for health workers across the Blue Mountains.
The Great Western Highway is expected to remain closed in both directions at Victoria Pass for at least three months due to a major structural failure, which is causing considerable delays for NSW Health workers traveling to Lithgow Hospital.
The NSW Government must urgently allocate resources to ensure Hartley Vale Rd is safe enough to be used as an alternative route to Lithgow Hospital for NSW Health workers.
Since the Great Western Highway's closure, HSU representatives have been working closely with Transport for NSW, Blue Mountains and Lithgow Councils, but no agency is yet to find a solution to the delays and traffic snarls.
HSU members will continue to be provided with any updates as further information comes to light and as HSU representatives continue to work with the NSW Government.
