HSU members have done it!
After circulating a petition across the workplace and securing clear majority support from staff, Stella Maris has now agreed to commence bargaining for a new enterprise agreement. This outcome follows the application HSU members lodged with the Fair Work Commission.
This is a major step forward. For the first time in years, workers at Stella Maris will finally have the opportunity to negotiate for real wage increases and improved conditions.
What Happens Next
Now that Stella Maris has agreed to bargain:
Stella Maris must formally notify all employees within 14 days that bargaining has commenced.
HSU members will establish a Bargaining Committee, made up of workers from across the facility.
A member survey will be distributed to identify the key issues, improvements, and priorities for the new enterprise agreement.
Once the survey is complete, the HSU Bargaining Committee will develop a Log of Claims based on what members say needs to change.
