Your HSU Bargaining Representatives have now attended seven negotiation meetings with Uniting, but so far nothing has been ruled in or rule out from HSU members’ Log of Claims.
Over the last three meetings, we have focused on reviewing the classification structure. Uniting wishes to simplify the classifications making them less ‘task descriptive’, preferring to leave that for Position Descriptions to cover.
Your bargaining team has approached the discussion constructively, but we have made it very clear that any changes to the structure (or descriptors) must accurately reflect the work performed by staff.
Given the time spent on this issue, HSU members have requested that Uniting formally table a proposed classification structure, so that we can start member consultation and have more constructive conversation.
The next bargaining meeting is scheduled Friday 27 February. HSU members will be updated following that discussion.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please reach out to your HSU Organiser/Delegate or your Member Services Division on 1300 478 679.
