Uniting EA – Uniting’s revised pay offer

Last Thursday, your HSU bargaining team met with Uniting to progress enterprise agreement negotiations. 
 
Uniting presented unions with an overview of their revised pay offer, and HSU delegates are concerned that Uniting appears to be offering no real wage increase for a majority of workers.
 
Two weeks ago, the Fair Work Commission issued a decision lifting pay rates in all Awards by 4.75% from 1 July 2026. This decision was made to ensure wage rates keep pace with the rising cost of living, and includes the Aged Care Award. This increase sets the new legal minimum rates of pay, for all workers in the aged care sector across Australia. 
 
As many aged care workers at Uniting are already on the legal minimum rate of pay, Uniting will be required to pass on the full 4.75% to most workers, from the first full pay period after 1 July. 
 
However, Uniting appears to be absorbing this increase as part of their ‘offer’ to staff. Uniting have indicated that most staff who receive the full increase as mandated by the Fair Work Commission, will not receive any additional pay increase from Uniting this year. 
 
This is a concerning development and one that could seriously undermine Uniting’s offer to staff. More details will hopefully be shared with members in the next week.
